Bookishness

Susanna tagged me for this book meme. And since I’ve recently had a hard time coming up with things to blog about I decided a meme was a great way to post something without having to think too terribly much. (At least I didn’t have to come up with a topic!)

(I’m not using The Bible since it basically could go in most of the blanks.)

1. One book that changed your life:

I cannot really think of a good answer to this. A Little Princess got me hooked on classics. Gone With the Wind and Jubilee Trail made me want to walk around carrying ginourmous books in junior high school. The Good Earth turned me off of summer reading lists. (Could they never recommend anything really good to read?) Mere Christianity got me interested in C.S. Lewis. A book I read in college made me reconsider my major and change from social work to education…and I don’t remember the name of it.

Can I name all those?

2. One book that you’ve read more than once:

One? I love rereading books! But the one I’ve probably reread the most is The Blue Castle, by L.M. Montgomery. My current copy has a taped/stapled spine and many pages taped back in.

3. One book you’d want on a desert island:

How To Get Off a Desert Island

4. One book that made you laugh:

I just finished reading the Emily series by L.M. Montgomery not too terribly long ago. I remember laughing all through it. Other books have made me laugh…but those are fresh on my mind.

5. One book that made you cry [or feel really sad]:

Maus I and Maus II. I read them in high school and cried several times. At one point, after reading what the Nazis had done to some Jewish babies I was unable to eat.

6. One book that you wish had been written:

How to Keep Blogging While Working and Dealing With Pregnancy Fatigue!

7. One book that you wish had never been written:

The Koran

8. One book you’re currently reading:

Merlin, by Stephen Lawhead. Really great book. I’m enjoying it thouroughly. You should read it!

9. One book you’ve been meaning to read:

Josephus

10. Now tag five people:

Nah. But let me know if you wanna play! :D

I love that series. Have you read _Taliesin_ yet?

I don’t think I’ve read every book yet. But the first three are good enough to re-read. ANd I think I got 5 deep before it started becoming — not quite so interesting.
