Barb at A Chelsea Morning has been wondering about the names of all the blogs she sees around the blogosphere. I must admit, I have often been curious about what makes a blogger choose his/her blog name.
I do enjoy when I find out what lies behind the name of the blog. Sometimes bloggers have chosen a name for some deep, well-thought out reason, others just randomly selected their blog name out of the blue, while others stem from childhood nicknames. I love finding out the reason behind a name. (Like hearing a parent discuss why a particular name was chosen for their child….fascinates me every time!)
A Picturesque Life was not one of those deep well-thought out blog titles. I have been playing around with pictures for several years when I started getting a few requests to do informal portriats and even a few weddings. As I love photography I was estatic. I decided if I ever had a photography business (of course after I go to school and actually learn HOW to take pictures!) I wanted to name it Picturesque Photography.
When I started dating my now blogger husband, he suggested I start blogging. He showed me photoblogs galore and I admit to being a bit interested. Although I am by no means exclusively a photoblog, I certainly use photos quite a bit in my posts. And that was my intent from the beginning.
Joshua is actually the one who suggested A Picturesque Life after I played with the word picturesque a bit. I liked it immediately. I felt like it expressed what I wanted my blog to represent. Not a perfect life, by any means….but a happy one….one full of smiles, play, beauty, and real life! Almost like a digital photo album full of memories of weddings, families, babies, learning, loving, play, work, and life.
So there you have it. The story behind the name A Picturesque Life.

The first time I saw the name of your blog I immediately thought she either loves photography or she lives on the Outer Banks, my dream destination. I love the word picturesque. And the name you gave your blog is perfect. A perfect fit.

I like the name of your blog. I kind of thought when I first saw it that a blog was like a picture of a persons life so to speak. I enjoy photography as well but am strictly and ameteur.
